One of the obligations of a man is to stay home during the first year of marriage to make a strong marital union. Part of this is some small talk that will help calm the woman's heart and put her at ease. But the Sages explain that HaShem is in the house the entire first year recording every conversation, and if this small talk is too light hearted it will be held against him.
