The fact that 70 People Went Down To Egypt is mentioned again in Parashat Shemot is puzzling. Didn't we just learn this a couple weeks ago? Why do we need to know this, again? Rabbi Yaron Reuven says that a CRITICAL principle of Torah study is that any time the Torah mentions something more than once, it's important. One of the reasons that this number of seventy souls is so important is it's one of the MANY mistakes and contradictions in the new testament, and we need to know that the Torah is the one and only source of truth.
