Parashat Vayeira: Kristallnacht 1938

The week of Parashat Vayeira in Germany 1938 held two critical events during the Holocaust: Polish Jew Herschel Grynszpan assassinated German diplomat Ernst vom Rath on November 7th, which Hitler then used as a pretext for Kristallnacht two days later on November 9th, and the beginning of mass murder of Jews in concentration camps like Auschwitz.
