Is It A Mitzvah To Get Drunk On Purim?

A student asks, if you're not allowed to alter your mind by smoking marijuana or doing other drugs, what about getting drunk on Purim? Rabbi Yaron Reuven says, the Sages in Masechet Megilah clarify that to not know the difference between "blessed is Mordechai and cursed is Haman" means to know that everything comes from HaShem. There's no permission to drink to the point of making a fool of yourself and committing a Chillul HaShem.
